Threatened biodiversity survey draft guidelines
These draft guidelines are for use by anyone involved in threatened species assessments under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 and the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act. They will be particularly useful for ecological consultants and local council officers. The guidelines:
- explain the process involved in undertaking a threatened species assessment
- set out the responsibilities of the people involved
- provide some general survey standards for flora and fauna surveys.
These guidelines are currently a working draft and we welcome comments on any aspect of them. The guidelines are not currently legally binding, but we recommend they are considered when undertaking threatened species assessments in NSW.
