Hill End Historic Site Plan of Management
Hill End Historic Site is located in the Central Tablelands of New South Wales, approximately 75 kilometres from Bathurst and 70 kilometres from Mudgee. The site is part of a living village conserving state-listed heritage from the 1850s gold rush era and a post-World War II artists’ colony. As well as the core of Hill End village, the site includes several dispersed former goldmining sites: Tambaroora, Golden Gully, Valentines Mine and the Quartz Roasting Pits.

The historic site was among the first reserves created under the original National Parks and Wildlife Act 1967 and managed under the newly created National Parks and Wildlife Service.
Today the historic site shares its history with a small residential community and provides an immersive living history experience for visitors. The plan of management seeks to balance the needs of the local community with managing the site’s significant cultural and natural values.
This plan of management should be read in conjunction with the Hill End Historic Site Planning Considerations (2022).
