The reserve conserves five distinct forest ecosystems ranging from a very small reservation of river she-oak forest along Oak Creek, through to mixed box forests along the ridge. The reserve is important due to its high diversity of native vegetation and low infestations of exotic species. It provides potential habitat for the squirrel glider, brushtailed phascogale and nectivorous bird species associated with box communities.
