The park and reserves conserve two endangered ecological communities, five
threatened plant species, and eighteen threatened animal species including the
spotted-tailed quoll and brush-tailed rock-wallaby. A large proportion of Nowendoc
National Park, 14,000 hectares of the 17,374 hectare park, is declared as part of the
Curracabundi Wilderness.
The New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 requires that a plan of
management be prepared for each national park and nature reserve.
