Boonalla Aboriginal Area forms part of a chain of parks stretching the length of the Brigalow Belt South and Nandewar bioregions. The park protects significant Aboriginal cultural values and supports habitat for several threatened plant and animal species, including one of the few known roosts for the eastern cave bat in New South Wales.

The plan of management enables the continued protection of significant Aboriginal site values, Aboriginal cultural values and natural values.

This is the first plan of management for this park which is managed in consultation with the Boonalla Aboriginal Area Joint Management Committee.
