Light to Light Walk: update April 2025

Light to Light Walk upgrades near completion

The final stages of upgrades to the 32 km, multi-day Light to Light Walk are nearing completion. NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service staff and contractors are busy finishing track construction works between Bittangabee Bay and Pulpit Rock and Pulpit Rock to Green Cape. These sections and the completed end-to-end walk are anticipated to be opened to visitors in May 2025.

A modified Light to Light end-to-end walk is currently accessible to visitors by walking the following track sections:

  • Boyds Tower to Saltwater Creek (upgraded track)
  • Saltwater Creek to Bittangabee Campground (upgraded track)
  • Bittangabee Campground to Pulpit Rock (existing track)

Hegartys Bay campground

The construction of Hegartys Bay campground commenced in December 2024. The campground will be constructed in a similar style to Mowarry campground offering 10 camping platforms and a remote toilet setup with a rainwater tank.

Track closures

We continue working with our contractor and commercial tour operators to provide visitor access to as much of the Light to Light Walk experience as possible, where it is safe and practical to do so.

Please note that the final section of the Light to Light Walk is scheduled to be opened to the public in May 2025. This is dependent on weather conditions and any unforeseen delays.

Before visiting Beowa National Park, always check for the latest closure information and notifications at National Parks and Wildlife Service alerts.

Green Cape Lightstation Precinct

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is planning upgrade works to improve the safety, access and amenity of the Green Cape Lightstation Precinct.

Stage 1 internal refurbishment and roof replacement of the Lightstation cottages are planned for 2025. The works are expected to commence in May 2025 and be complete in late October 2025, weather permitting.

During this time, the Lightstation cottages accommodation will be closed to visitors. Green Cape lookout and surrounding walking tracks will remain open.

A Stage 2 services upgrade and landslip repair will follow the completion of the Stage 1 works. These works are required to upgrade the gas, electrical and sewerage systems and to remediate a landslip that occurred in 2022. National Parks and Wildlife Service is currently in the planning stage for Stage 2 works, with approvals to be obtained. Further consultation regarding timeframes will be undertaken.
