The Woody Head campground precinct has experienced significant coastal erosion and recession, with Woody Head beach being one of the fastest eroding beaches in New South Wales. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has made significant investment in facilities and coastal protection works at Woody Head. Without further protection, access to the site is predicted to be compromised by 2030.
As part of the Clarence Valley Open Coast Coastal Management Program, NPWS has prepared a draft coastal hazard response plan for Woody Head campground, which includes detailed coastal hazard studies, an assessment of potential management options and a recommended management approach.
The draft Woody Head campground coastal hazard response plan is available for public feedback until 29 July 2024.
