Saving our Species resources

The natural temperate grassland collection of projects involve farmers and other land managers who work with us to protect grasslands and create habitat for some of our threatened species.

Bell's turtle (Myuchelys bellii) is only found in the high-elevation rivers of the New England Tablelands, in the upper reaches of the Namoi, Gwydir, Severn, Beardy and Deepwater river systems.

The Manning River helmeted turtle (Myuchelys purvisi) is confined to the Manning Valley on the mid-north coast of New South Wales. It was listed as endangered in 2017, following a 20-year population decline.

The Bellinger River snapping turtle (Myuchelys georgesi), is only found in a 60-kilometre stretch of the Bellinger River in northern New South Wales.

This project is helping to secure a future for glossy black-cockatoos in the Shoalhaven by empowering local Aboriginal custodians to reconnect with fire impacted landscapes.

Located on Murramarang lands, this forest recovery project aims to protect Milton Ulladulla subtropical rainforest and expand its range.

Threatened shorebirds need space to nest on our beaches, but they face threats from dogs, beachgoers and vehicles.
