This Easter school holidays head to the Warrumbungle National Park, also known as the Astronomy Capital of Australia in north-western NSW to take part in our Explore the Dark Sky tour, run by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).

The tour is the most successful and popular tour in the north-west region and we’re inviting everyone from astronomers, couples, kids and families to book ahead to avoid disappointment of the frequently sold-out tour.

This tour gives you front-row seats to one of the darkest and clearest skies in the Southern Hemisphere.

Visitors can witness the pristine night sky above the volcanic landscape, unimpeded by artificial light and providing jaw-dropping views of the Milky Way, constellations and planets.

If you’re a lover of the outdoors and gazing at the night sky, then this tour is not to be missed.

While tours run all year round, NPWS is running extra tours until Friday 25 April, so no one misses out.

Tours start at 6.30pm from the Warrumbungle Visitor Centre and run for 1.5 hours.

All ages are welcome, but a prior knowledge base is recommended. This tour is ideal for anyone with an interest in astronomy, nature, or simply enjoying the beauty of the night sky.

Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer or a beginner, Warrumbungle National Park offers a truly remarkable experience under the stars and includes other activities like hiking in the Warrumbungle NP, visiting the Siding Spring Observatory and exploring the Pilliga Forest and Mt Kaputar.
