Monga State Conservation Area lies in the Bungonia subregion of the South Eastern Highlands Bioregion. It lies within the traditional Country of the Yuin People. The park supports habitat for a number of threatened plant and animal species and is significant for its protection of water catchment values.

The plan of management enables continued protection of the Sydney drinking water catchment, protection of natural values and maintenance of recreational activities within the park.

This is the first plan of management for this park.
