This document is the pest management strategy for the Central Coast Hunter region. The area includes Gosford, Wyong, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Cessnock, Maitland, Upper Hunter Shire and the Liverpool Plains shire.
This plan outlines NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service’s management actions to remove feral horses to address their impacts on the conservation values of Barrington Tops National Park and Barrington Tops State Conservation Area, and to address public safety risks.
Barrington Tops National Park, Mount Royal National Park and Barrington Tops State Conservation Area are located approximately 90 kilometres north-west of Newcastle and cover a combined area of 89,299 hectares. The parks are within the traditional Country of the Biripi, Worimi, Geawegal and Wonaruah Aboriginal people.
This fire management strategy incorporates Barrington Tops State Conservation Area, Mount Royal National Park, Running Creek Nature Reserve, Killarney Nature Reserve, Monkerai Nature Reserve and Black Bulga State Conservation Area.
