The Dharawal parks are located approximately 45 kilometres south-west of Sydney between Georges River and Illawarra Escarpment. They are in the traditional Country of the Dharawal People, with the naming of the parks reflecting the connection that Aboriginal people have with this place.
This report discusses the planning matters considered in preparing the Dharawal National Park, Dharawal Nature Reserve and Dharawal State Conservation Area Plan of Management. The parks are located south-west of Sydney between the Georges River and Illawarra escarpment in New South Wales and are in the traditional Country of the Dharawal People.
In March 2012 the NSW Government created Dharawal National Park to provide enhanced protection for this naturally and culturally significant area. This was achieved through recategorising the majority of the former Dharawal State Conservation Area.
