This document is the pest management strategy for the Metro North East Region which covers the part of Sydney that lies between Botany Bay in the north and Wolli Creek in the south, Broken Bay in the north-east, and Wisemans Ferry in the north-west.
Barrenjoey Lighthouse became part of the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) collection of historic lighthouses when it was added to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park in May 2002. The lighthouse was established in 1881 and is an important component of the string of lighthouses built in the 19th century to light the NSW coastline.
National Parks and Wildlife Service recognised that Bobbin Head and Apple Tree Bay required revitalising without compromising the natural and cultural heritage of the parklands. The Masterplan provides strategic direction, objectives, opportunities and actions for management to achieve a Vision for upgrading parklands and amenities in a staged approach.
This fire management strategy incorporates Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Lion Island Nature Reserve, Long Island Nature Reserve, Spectacle Island Nature Reserve and Mt Ku-ring-gai Aboriginal Area.
