Legislation and our policies and plans protect your privacy and access to your personal information.

Legislation

The Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 regulates how we deal with the personal information we collect and store.

The Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 protects health-related personal information.

Privacy Management Plan

The Privacy Management Plan provides details about the privacy principles that we must follow when dealing with personal information. It also provides information on:

  • how to access your personal information that is held by us
  • how we handle complaints about privacy
  • what your rights are if you are not happy with a decision we’ve made about your privacy.

Public registers

Our Public registers contain personal information that is required by law to be made publicly available or open to public inspection.

We maintain and operate a number of public registers established under different legislation.
